ANTENNA AND COUNTERPOISE BASICS

"...thought I'd share a 'paper' I created to get some basic principles down and illustrated after almost 50 years of working through many aspects of the hobby and professional practice and 'mystery'.
It's been under peer review by 2-way/commercial/public-safety and broadcast professionals and passed, so it's not just some wild-eyed 'interpretation' toward "good SWRs" but a larger picture. Sadly, we still don't have an "RF camera" to 'see' how well or poorly RF energy behaves, and it's really difficult to model HF antennas in a test field as easily as UHF and microwave antennas.
If you're building proven antenna designs - this may become obvious. If you're experimenting with variations, you'll get some ideas about how the RF energy may behave."
